Mad Chemistry

Above is the diagram from thursday’s class on metal elements. The diagram shows the metal atoms “afloat” in the “sea” of electrons. B) how electricity is conducted easily through this “sea” of electrons, C) heat conductivity; and D) how this “sea” allows for ductility and malleability.
Hey all- for those researching the periodic table – check out this website: its awesome!
Don’t forget to tell me:
1. what elements are in your family (group)
2. What type of elements they are (metal/nonmetal/metalloid)
3. how reactive they are
4. any other cool facts
Syllabus for those in need:
- During this course we will be exploring God’s creation through the study of chemistry
- Rules of the Lab: RESPECT – it’s the only one
- Supplies Needed to be a Delightful dissector:
- Pencil – this will be the only acceptable way to record your data
- Paper – spiral bound 3 subject notebook
- Your brain – this will be the most necessary tool
- A hair tie – all long hair must always be kept away from experiments
- Grading Scale
- A: 90 and above
- B: 80-89
- C: 70 – 79
- D: 60-69
- F: 59 and Below
- How I figure out your grade (and how you can do it too!)
- Tests: 40 %
- Quizzes: 20%
- Lab homework: 20%
- Projects: 10%
